It's finally here! The full-length debut from Sweden's Satanic doom-rocking, hooded henchmen. The album art bares a striking resemblance to the movie poster of the 1979 film (originally TV series), Salem's Lot, which I actually have a screen shot of over there on the right somewhere, but anywho...I'm planning a big, full-on review for this one, so to save some time, I'm just going to leave you with the link to the album, as well as a link to the Rise Above website where you can buy it. Those in the US might want to wait until some US distributors are carrying it though. Also, the vinyl hasn't been released yet, so you could wait for that too if that's your thing. I usually wait for the vinyl myself, but couldn't help myself and just ordered the CD.
Anyway, from the first couple of listen-overs, it's everything I was expecting. Definitely a perfect embodiment of that late 70's proto-metal/occult hard rock sound but totally menacing, and doesn't get all "OMG so totally vintage!" like so many bands end up falling victim to. Kind of ironic that one of the best metal releases of 2010 sounds like it was recorded 30 years ago, but it's also not very surprising considering the state metal is currently in. Those who worshipped the shit out of the Elizabeth 7" and demo will not be disappointed.

I really appreciate you posting this. Your blog stands head & shoulders above many.
First, it's great to have you back!
This record made me worship Satan again, after so many years. Through growing-up, I rationalized the being of The Master as a metaphor, but now I KNOW He's real. Haven't felt "The chills" so intense since I was a kid. After all this flattering, maybe you'd consider uploading the second pressing of Crematory's "Denial"... Tonight, I'll offer Him the preliminary sacrifice through watching "Rosemary's Baby" to help you make the right decision.
Good to see your blog is back on it's feet. Thanks, I'm really looking forward to hearing this, it sounds right up my alley.
We fucking loved it
Now, c'mon brown growth. The review?... a new post?...
